Question:

I get really, really, ridiculously tired after eating. Really, its like the post Thanksgiving Dinner coma after every meal. Coincidentally, I am not that good at driving while I am asleep, so I am a bit reluctant to eat on the road. Is this normal after meals, and if so, are there foods that are less likely to make me so drowsy?

Answer:

Well I would say you are right that one is much better driving when the eyes are open. It sounds like you are really sensitive to sugars so I would suggest staying away from high glycemic carbs (breads, potatoes, pasta, rice, soft drinks, etc.). What will help is snacking on nuts and proteins over the course of the day. This will help with that feeling you have after meals. The G-Index diet I would highly recommend for you to read and follow.
