To put it in sports terms for you guys to relate to, your best defense if a good offense. Planning ahead will let your lady know that you will miss her, are missing her, and have missed her. You can hide little notes around the house, under her pillow, next to the toothpaste, on her car dash. Even if you aren't exactly Shakespeare, you can tell her you can't wait to see her beautiful smile, tell her you hate sleeping away from her, tell her you will make her dinner when you get back. Anything to get her eagerly awaiting your return (for a reason beside fixing the disposal). It may sound cliché, but flowers are always a good way to go. Even women who claim not to like them won't be able to resist when they see that you have taken a moment away from your hard work to let them know they are on your mind. This goes double for hand written letters and even emails. Finally, when you get home take her on a date or plan some uninterrupted one-on-one time. You need to regroup and re-connect if you want to keep that connection.
